Residential Concept
For a recent self-initiated concept design for a residential development, I set myself a brief of using a consistent material palette to tie a group of buildings together, while using subtle variations in detailing to give each one its own character.
At the heart of the scheme, the landscaped square works in tandem with the brick architecture - providing a shared space that balances the solidity of the buildings with moments of calm.
The design is anchored by a 22-storey brick tower, complemented by more human-scale, mid-rise blocks featuring curved and stepped brickwork details. This was an opportunity to test ideas around cohesion and individuality in residential design, while drawing inspiration from London’s long tradition of brick architecture.
